The two terms get swapped constantly, so on our white label program page we define them the way we run them. White label means our known products with your artwork applied to the bottle. Private label means custom modifications to known recipes, with custom ingredients, colors, flavors and packaging.
This is for retailers, spas, wellness businesses and founders deciding between the two. We offer both and have launched 100+ brands, so we are not pushing you toward one. We cover speed, minimums, customization, compliance and the 2026 federal hemp change, then the questions to ask any manufacturer.
White Label vs Private Label CBD: The Short Answer
Speed on one side, ownership on the other
Choose white label if you want to be selling in weeks, are testing demand, or sell on your brand's trust rather than a unique formula. Choose private label if you need a product that is clearly yours: a flavor, an added ingredient or a package the shop down the street cannot match. Both include a Certificate of Analysis for every batch, so testing is not the deciding factor. Time, minimums and differentiation are.

White Label vs Private Label Head to Head
Head to Head
Speed to Market for a New CBD Line
Weeks to shelf, not quarters
White label is the fastest path because the hard part is already done. Our white label program page lists a 4 to 8 week lead time and names the White Label plan the fastest turnaround of the three.
Private label adds steps before production: agreeing on the modification, sourcing ingredients, matching a flavor or color, packaging design and testing. There is no separate private label lead time on the page. It puts our average time from concept to shelf at 8 to 12 weeks, so count backward from your launch date.
Minimum Order, Cost and Upfront Risk
How much you commit before you sell
The same program page lists a minimum order starting at 350, small enough to test demand. It covers the program as a whole, so ask whether a modified product changes it. Under white label the product is proven, so your money goes to inventory and artwork, not development.
We do not publish prices for either plan. Every project gets a custom proposal with pricing after the discovery call, and a private label proposal covers more work. Weigh it against what a unique product is worth to your customers.
Customization and Brand Differentiation
A product nobody else can stock
With white label you get our product with your look. The product inside is the one in our catalog, and another brand can carry it under its own label. That is fine when your advantage is your audience, location or service.
Private label is where you change what is inside. Our page's example is a vegan gummy with mushrooms and other vitamins: a known recipe with custom ingredients, colors and flavors, custom packaging and full label design. For a product we do not make, such as CBD toothpaste, custom formulation with our R&D team is the third path.
Compliance, Lab Testing and Label Rules
Same testing on both, same rules on both
Testing does not separate the plans. Every batch under either is third-party tested with a full Certificate of Analysis you can share, like the ones on our Lab Results page. A 2017 JAMA study, funded by a grant from the Institute for Research on Cannabinoids, a nonprofit, bought 84 CBD extracts online from 31 companies in September and October 2016. Only 30.95 percent had a measured CBD content within 10 percent of the label, and THC was detected in 18 of the 84. Your name is on the label, so the COA protects you as much as the buyer.
Label rules do not change with the plan either. The FDA has approved one CBD drug, Epidiolex, and no other. It says CBD is excluded from the definition of a dietary supplement and calls adding CBD to food sold across state lines a prohibited act. It has sent warning letters to firms marketing CBD to treat disease, listed on its warning letters page through 2025. Our facility is certified by GMP consultants in 21 CFR Part 117 and Part 111, the FDA's rules for human food and dietary supplements, and it is FDA registered. For "organic" on your label, 7 CFR 205.100 requires each operation that produces or handles organic products to be certified, with narrow exemptions, and 7 CFR 205.303 requires the information panel to name the certifying agent. Our facility and products are USDA Certified Organic, so ask how that carries to your label.
THC Products and the 2026 Federal Hemp Change
Know the law before you pick a product
If you want a Delta 9 THC gummy or drink in the line, the calendar matters more than the plan. Public Law 119-37, approved November 12, 2025, rewrites the federal definition of hemp effective 365 days later. Under Sec. 781, "hemp" will exclude "any final hemp-derived cannabinoid products containing... greater than 0.4 milligrams combined total per container" of total THC, including THCA, plus any other cannabinoids HHS determines have similar effects. The statute defines a container as "the innermost wrapping, packaging, or vessel in direct contact with" the final product. It also excludes cannabinoids "not capable of being naturally produced by a Cannabis sativa L. plant" and natural ones "synthesized or manufactured outside the plant." Read the statute on GovInfo.
H.R. 6500, signed September 2, 2026, applies the change only to cannabinoids the plant cannot naturally produce until December 11, 2026. So synthetic cannabinoids lose hemp status November 12, 2026, and the total THC standard and the 0.4mg per container cap take effect December 11, 2026. A 10mg can or a 5.6mg gummy is over that cap, and a full spectrum product with trace THC can be too. As of September 2026, bills to delay, repeal or regulate sat in committee, and the FDA cannabinoid lists and container guidance the law ordered were unpublished, per Hemp Law Group. States vary and some already restrict hemp THC drinks, so check yours before choosing a THC product.
Questions to Ask Any CBD Manufacturer
Ask these before you sign anything
Put the same questions to every manufacturer. Which certifications does the facility hold, and can you see them? Is every batch third-party tested, with the full COA, not a summary? What is the minimum order, and does it change on reorders? What is the lead time from signed proposal to finished goods, and what happens if a batch fails testing? Who owns a modified or custom formula, and can you take it elsewhere? Who reviews the claims on your artwork?
Here is how we answer. Our certifications are GMP Certified, USDA Certified Organic, DATCP Wisconsin Food Certified and FDA Registered. Every order includes third-party testing with a full COA, FDA-compliant packaging, barcode and UPC, product photos and sales sheets, drop-ship or bulk fulfillment, and a dedicated brand manager. Hemp growers with their own crop should read our toll processing post instead.
Who Should Choose White Label or Private Label
Best For
Choose White Label if
You need to be selling soon
- You want a proven product on your shelf or site in weeks, not a development project.
- You are testing whether your customers will buy CBD under your name.
- Your edge is your audience, location or service, not a unique formula.
Choose Private Label if
You need a product that is only yours
Go private label when a specific flavor, added ingredient, color or package is part of your brand promise and you can give it the extra weeks. If you only want to stock our finished lines, our wholesale program with Net 30 terms is the simpler route.

- New ingredients must be sourced and the modified version tested first.
How to Choose Between White Label and Private Label CBD
Pick the plan, then pick the products
Start with your date and budget. If you need product within two months or are still testing demand, start with white label; a top seller can graduate to private label later. If your brand depends on a product nobody else sells, start with private label and give it time. Either way, check the federal cap and your state's rules before putting a THC product in a 2026 launch.
Apply on our white label page. We review applications within 24 to 48 business hours, schedule a discovery call and send a custom proposal with products, pricing and a timeline. For bulk extract, contract packaging or a larger project, request a quote on our bulk manufacturing page; we reply within one business day.

White Label and Private Label CBD Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is the Difference Between White Label and Private Label CBD?
In our program, white label means our existing products with your artwork applied to the bottle, the fastest route to market. Private label covers custom modifications to a known recipe: added ingredients, flavors, colors and custom packaging, with full label design included. Other manufacturers define the terms differently, so always ask what is included.
Is White Labeling CBD Legal?
White labeling is an ordinary manufacturing arrangement. What matters is the product and the label. No hemp CBD product is FDA approved, the agency says CBD cannot be marketed as a dietary supplement or added to food sold across state lines, and it sends warning letters over disease claims. From December 11, 2026, federal law excludes any finished product over 0.4mg of total THC per container from the definition of hemp. States add their own rules, so check both.
Is Private Label CBD Still Profitable?
It can be, but we would be guessing if we quoted a margin for your business. Profit depends on your price point, your sell-through, your minimum order and whether your product is distinct enough to avoid price competition. Private label takes more work up front, so it pays off when customers can only get your version from you.
Do White Label CBD Products Look Like Other Brands' Products?
The packaging carries your artwork, so on the shelf it looks like yours. The product inside comes from our catalog, and another brand can carry it under its own label. If that bothers you, private label changes the recipe, flavor, color or package so your version is unique. Either way, every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis.
